Crixás was first explored in the 18th century by pioneers searching for gold. Today, the Crixás mining district is home to some of the largest gold operations in Brazil, including four mines from AngloGold Ashanti in a deposit with 9 million ounces of gold and an annual production of over 130,000 ounces of gold. Jupiter Gold’s Crixás Project is located 11 miles from these mines.

In Q2 2019, Jupiter Gold conducted an exploratory campaign at Crixás, in which placer gold was identified and recovered using gravitational methods.
